Most couples want at least one moment at their wedding that makes guests stop mid-conversation.
Not something subtle. Something unexpected. The kind of moment that has people pulling out their phones because they genuinely didn’t see it coming.
Then the practical questions start. Is this allowed in Dubai? Will the venue approve it? Do we need a permit or special permission?
Dubai regulates wedding entertainment closely. Safety, noise, and licensing all matter. That doesn’t mean you’re limited to safe or boring ideas. It just means the planning has to be done properly.
At Sona Vista Events, we handle licensed performers and event permits, so couples can focus on choosing ideas they actually enjoy. These are some wedding entertainment options that work well in Dubai when planned the right way.

LED Zaffe entrance
Traditional Zaffe drummers are well known at weddings in the region. The LED version adds a modern edge without losing the cultural element.
The performers wear illuminated costumes, and the drums light up in sync with the music. It works especially well for the couple’s entrance when the room lights drop.
This is a permitted performance type and usually only requires standard performer approval through the venue.
Fire acts and LED alternatives
Fire performances are one of the most common requests we get.
Outdoor venues can allow real fire acts, but only with venue approval and strict safety measures in place. Beach weddings or desert locations work best. Indoor ballrooms generally don’t allow open flames.
When fire isn’t an option, LED or pixel poi dancers are a strong alternative. The performers use light tools that create shapes, patterns, or even names in the air. It photographs well and avoids the safety concerns that come with real fire.
Live painters and fashion illustrators
Not all entertainment needs a stage or loud music.
Live painters work quietly during the event, capturing moments like the ceremony or first dance on canvas. By the end of the night, the couple has a finished piece to take home.
Fashion illustrators sketch guests during cocktails or dinner. The drawings are quick, stylish, and personal. Guests tend to keep them, which isn’t always true for traditional wedding favors.
Drone light shows
This option is best suited for large outdoor weddings with open sky, usually over water.
A group of drones creates shapes and patterns above the venue, such as initials or rings. It’s visually impressive, but it comes with real planning requirements.
Drone shows need approval from aviation authorities and a clear safety zone. Lead times usually run several weeks. It’s not a last-minute add-on, and it isn’t budget-friendly, but for the right couple and location, it makes a strong statement.
Roaming interactive performers
Fixed stages aren’t always necessary.
Roaming performers move through the crowd during cocktails or dinner. Mirror dancers, close-up magicians, and champagne skirt hosts work well in this format.
This type of entertainment fills the quieter parts of the evening, especially when couples step away for photos. Guests stay engaged instead of waiting around.
A note on permits and performers
In Dubai, all performers must be licensed, and most events require a permit approved through the venue and the Department of Economy and Tourism.
Hiring unlicensed entertainers can cause delays or, in some cases, force performances to stop mid-event. It’s not a risk worth taking.
At Sona Vista Events, we only work with approved and insured performers and handle the paperwork behind the scenes so couples don’t have to.
If you’re planning a wedding in Dubai and want entertainment that feels different but still follows the rules, we’re happy to talk through what’s possible for your venue and date.
