Rain in Dubai is rare, but when it comes, it can completely disrupt an unprepared outdoor wedding. With a smart backup plan, you can still have a beautiful, stress-free day your guests will remember for the right reasons.
Understand Dubai’s rain risk
Most outdoor weddings in Dubai are planned between November and March, when the weather is mild but winter storms and short, heavy rain spells are possible. Forecasts often include sudden downpours, strong winds, and even thunder, so you need a Plan B even in “perfect” season.

Have a real Plan B venue
Always confirm a covered or indoor backup space with your primary venue (ballroom, restaurant hall, tented area).
Put the backup in your contract with clear conditions: when you can switch, what time the decision must be made, and any extra costs.
Use professional tents, not makeshift covers
For garden or beach weddings, book proper wedding tents with side walls, secure flooring, and climate control instead of basic canopies.
Modern clear tents still give you the “outdoor” feel while protecting from rain and wind, and Arabic-style tents work beautifully for traditional décor.
Decide early on the day
Work with your planner and venue to set a “decision time” (for example, 4–5 hours before the ceremony) based on the forecast.
Last-minute changes in a storm are harder and risk damage to décor, AV equipment, and guest safety.
Protect guests and suppliers
Ensure safe, non-slip walkways, covered entry points, and guidance away from trees, unstable structures, and open beaches during thunderstorms.
Confirm that caterers, decorators, and AV teams can quickly move setups under cover if needed, and that all electrical equipment is weather-protected.
If you share your planned month, outdoor location type (beach, garden, desert), and guest count, a Dubai-specific rain backup checklist can be drafted for your wedding.
